SecOps were some of the first to embrace anomaly detection, and for good reason. Intrusions can cause all kinds of havoc. This blog explores the importance of package integrity checks, and points out a particularly nasty Apache binary backdoor in case you are unconvinced.
All of the excellent Monitorama slides and videos are now available. Most of the anomaly detection discussion is around staring at graphs and finding them the old fashioned way – and complaining about how this is a terrible way to find anomalies. “Monitoring sucks” complaints aside, lots of great info in here!
Testing non-production environments with real traffic is tremendously helpful in spotting anomalies before you release them into production. Gor is a new tool that collects and then can replay traffic in real-time against multiple environments, it’s pretty cool!
